David L. Buhrmann

David L. Buhrmann, Of Counsel

David L. Buhrmann, now Of Counsel, joined the firm in 1974. Although originally intending to be a trial lawyer, Mr. Buhrmann very quickly “found his niche” in the areas of probate and trust administration, wills, trusts and estate planning, family business planning and related areas, working closely with individuals and families, as well as banks, trust companies and other corporate fiduciaries. His estate planning clients include individuals and families whose estates range from small and relatively simple to very large and complex, from those that require little or no tax planning, to those requiring extensive gift, estate, generation-skipping and other tax planning and the use of sophisticated, complex estate planning vehicles. His primary goal or purpose as an estate planner is, first and foremost, to carry out the wishes and desires of his clients, but then to provide advice and guidance regarding the means or methods to implement or carry out each client’s lifetime and testamentary objectives in ways that produce estate, gift and other tax savings and also provide for efficient administration of the client’s estate, both pre- and post-mortem. For his “change of pace”, Mr. Buhrmann has also served for more than 30 years as counsel for the West Central Texas Municipal Water District. Mr. Buhrmann is a Director (and currently Chairman of the Board 2011-2013) of the YMCA of Abilene and also serves as a Deacon and Trustee of his church.
