Rachel A. Rickel joined McMahon Surovik Suttle, P.C. as an associate attorney in August 2022, following her graduation from Baylor University School of Law, where she earned her J.D. summa cum laude. During her time at Baylor, Rachel demonstrated her exceptional legal skills through multiple accolades, including being named Champion of the Summer 2022 Mad Dog Mock Trial Competition and competed as a finalist in additional intraschool competitions and in national moot court competitions.

Rachel’s legal career is a third and final chapter following her work as a professional classical musician and a brief stint in public policy. As a law student, she interned for multiple federal district judges and served on the Baylor Law Review. After graduation, Rachel clerked for The Honorable Justice Joel Carson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit during the 2023-2024 term. Her clerkship took her to Roswell, New Mexico, where she humorously noted her “inconclusive results” while searching for aliens.

At McMahon Surovik Suttle, P.C., Rachel’s practice focuses on creditors’ remedies, appellate work, and other areas that demand technical complexity and creative legal solutions. She enjoys tackling legal challenges that allow her to offer thoughtful and innovative strategies to meet her clients’ needs.

Rachel and her husband chose Abilene as the place to raise their family, where she enjoys the benefits of the nearby bustling Abilene Division federal courthouse and a short, traffic-free commute. Outside of her legal career, Rachel enjoys camping, participating in run-n-gun biathlons, and savoring Abilene’s breezy, humidity-free summer evenings. She also spends countless hours negotiating with her toddler, ensuring that no day is ever dull.
